Treatment and Accessibilities Chairperson

TREATMENT & ACCESSIBILITIES COMMITTEE

The Treatment & Accessibilities Committees purpose is to coordinate the work of indi­vidual A.A. members and groups who are interested in carrying our message of recovery to alcoholics in treatment and outpatient settings in District 43, and to set up means of “bridging the gap” from the facility to an A.A. group in the individual’s community.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be elected by District 43.
  • Minimum 5 years of current and continuous sobriety and three years of active committee work at area or local levels.
  • Be a Servant Leader
  • Use Treatment & Accessibilities workbooks provided by GSO as guideline for committee work
  • Be willing to put your own personality into the committee while following the principles of AA (Have Fun)
  • Need to be organized, computer skills and working knowledge of Word & Excel required

STRATEGIC WORK

  • Chair monthly committee meeting
  • Build up Committee & Volunteers around you
  • Read required literature and work books
  • Attend monthly District meeting and present committee activities & needs (two-minute or less)
  • Educate Groups & GSR’S of importance of Treatment & Accessibilities Service work
  • Work with other Committees wherever possible
  • Attend quarterlies/assemblies & participate in breakout sessions (if possible)
  • Attend International and local activities/meetings (if possible)
  • Set up table/booth whenever invited & find opportunities to do so
  • Work with your committee to create awareness thru workshops, speaker meetings, etc.
  • Support fellow committee members to become future AA leaders & encourage your alternate to rotate into your position

TACTICAL WORK

 

  • Work with Orientation Lead to keep Volunteer pipeline full & Orientated – ready for service
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinators to make sure commitments are kept & trouble shoot any challenges they are having
  • Collect and distribute literature pertaining to Treatment & Accessibilities
  • Discover and know of any Meeting Opportunities for Volunteers to serve
  • Delegate committee work as much as possible (Literature, Secretary, etc.) Make your group feel part of
  • Submit Newsletter Report by 15th of each month
  • Create Budget to carry out Committee plans & submit to GSR’s / keep receipts for reimbursement
  • Be Creative in generating awareness (luncheons, Greet and Meet, Speaker Meetings, etc.)
  • Attend individual Group Business meetings whenever requested
  • Remind GSR’S to Create a Treatment & Accessibilities position for their Groups
  • Respond to email and phone calls promptly
  • Work at a good relationship with your DCM
  • Register your position with DCM (to be registered with Area 79 & General Service Office)
  • Share/Save your work and pass it on to next Chair on USB

TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 10-20hrs per month
